YOUR RIGHTS IN THE EVENT OF A POLICE CHECK

If you are stopped by the police, it is important to remain calm and polite to avoid being accused of insulting behaviour. If you do not have any form of identification on you, you may be taken to the police station for an identity check.

AT THE POLICE STATION

You have the right to an interpreter, a lawyer and to be examined by a doctor. You may be asked to sign a report; do not sign it if you do not agree with what it says.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A RESIDENCE PERMIT

Challenge any measure that might aim to remove you from the country. If you are sent to a detention centre, go and see the association dealing with access to rights immediately.
