THE RIGHT TO HEALTHCARE IN FRANCE

A person without medical insurance has the right to medical care in France:

Some hospitals have PASS centres where people without medical insurance can receive care.

This also applies to CeGIDDs, which are free and anonymous screening centres that also offer free sexual health appointments.

In PASS centres, social workers can explain how to get health insurance cover:

— If you have submitted an asylum application and have been living in France for more than three months, you have access to PUMA (universal health protection).

— If you do not have a residence permit, if you have submitted an accelerated asylum application or if you are following the Dublin procedure and you have been living in France for more than 3 months, you have access to AME (Medical assistance from the French state) and CSS (additional healthcare cover, which was previorsly called CMU-C).
